August suddenly slumped against the wall of Lemon's office, looking quite pale and woozy.
"I...just...tired myself out fighting criminals is all...perfectly...perfectly fine."
His posture and expression definitely said otherwise, though whether Toph would still react with glee remained to be seen.

"Congratulations, Pointy!" Toph said, placing a hand on the demon's shoulder. "I couldn't believe anyone could do it, but you actually managed to get married to Blabberbrother. You should get a prize for that."
She clasped her hands. "Anyway, we have something else to deal with. Something really important. That's why we need to talk with Jellygirl and Mr. Stabby. You know where they are, Pointy?"

Lemon ran over and held August up. It was pretty clear she hadn't heard Toph, being more concerned about her husband.

August shook his head trying to clear it. Really he was in shock at suddenly being married to Lemon but he couldn't let her known any of that since it would be a dead giveaway that he wasn't the August from her reality and that would definitely freak her out and cause all sorts of problems.
"Ah...I'm just worn out from beating up criminals all day, that's all. That Waterbending gang put up more of a fight then I thought they would so I wound up wearing myself out."
That part was at least sort of true, which was good since without his powers August was a terrible liar. He grinned to try and make himself more reassuring.
"Anyway, I was really hoping to go and take Toph and Doll to see Zhi considering it's been a while since they've seen her but I don't remember where she is, so we were hoping maybe you did."

"Yeah, his memory's not working very well." Toph said, knocking August on the head. "A result of the fight with the Red Monsoons- and the fact that he's, well... Blabberbrother. So, yes, it's been a while since we've seen Jellygirl- and we do need to get Cuddlebug back home before Mrs Stabby skins us alive... so let's get going?"

Kun smiled and hugged Toph's leg. It wasn't often she got to see her aunt, so she had to get in all the affection she could. Lemon still looked nervous as she walked with August.
"Oh, you need to take it easier honey... I worry when I see you like this, and 'Gelo's going to think you got hurt badly again..."

An hour later...
It didn't take them too long until they reached the house the Noelles were using while they were in Republic City. But it looked like in this universe they lived near the border of Republic City, in one of the less urban areas of the city. They didn't have a pond in this home, but they did have a small garden, and from afar, the group could clearly spot Zhi (who had short hair instead of the long hair the original had) sitting with her legs crossed on the garden, apparently meditating.
"Oh, this is good!" Toph whispered over to August. "She's meditating. Must mean this universe's Jellygirl has some sort of connection with the spirits. I mean, our Jellygirl would never sit down and... well... meditate."

"Big sis! Auntie Toph came to visit an' she brought Doll!"

Doll dropped his professionalism, ran up and glomped onto Zhi despite her apparently meditating and Toph being right there, as if he hadn't seen her for a pretty long time.
August smiled at the sound of it and went over to his sister too, roughing up her hair. "Work's been going pretty well today, so I decided to join Toph and Doll while they visit you. Also, we kind of need to talk to you about something, but i'm sure it can wait for a little while."

"Gah!"
Toph couldn't help but laugh as she watched Kun and Doll practically tackle Zhi. The girl appeared to glare for a moment, before smiling and hugging back her relatives. "Good to see you two too. And back early, too?" she said, looking up at August. She stood up, waving at Toph. She then hugged August, and then bowed to him- a very formal bow, in fact. "Master August." she said, smirking. "... where's Tangelo?"

"Um...Still in school, I think. We'll probably be picking him up soon." He'd completely forgotten that in this world he was probably Zhi's Earthbending teacher as well as her brother. Luckily he hadn't stumbled and given himself away yet.
"Anyway, when you're done spending time with the kids, Toph and I need to talk to you about some things." He hoped he wasn't saying anything odd or out of the ordinary. As things were he really didn't want to risk freaking out the children or Zhi, and this was going to be really hard to explain.

"Oh, yeah. School. Right." She said, a bit disappointed. But she raised an eyebrow when August said we need to talk to you about some things. "Yeah, well, I need to talk to you guys about some things too." she said while ruffling Dollstop's hair.
"That's a surprise, Jellygirl." Toph said, smirking.
"... Jellygirl? What kind of name is that?" Zhi asked, lowering the other eyebrow. "You've never called me that before."
"It's a new thing I'm doing. Testing new names!" Toph replied, making up an answer. "For example, I'm calling August... Jellyboy! That's right!"

August had to resist the urge to facepalm, bringing his hand up to his face only to drop it down again and finally settle for raising an irritated and disbelieving eyebrow at Toph.
"Right, anyway we need to talk about something other than Toph's sudden obsession with jelly that she should probably get checked out by a doctor, too."
The problem was finding a way to get the kids out of hearing distance. They couldn't just tell them not to listen in since that would do the exact opposite, obviously.

Almost as if reading August's thought, Zhi knelled besides Kun. "Sis, why don't you go and take Dollstop to see your new toys? It's been quite a while since you've showed them to anyone."
"Yes, the grownups need to talk." Toph added, and she immediately frowned. "Never thought I'd say that..."

Kun was about to run off with Dollstop, but stopped when Toph said the grownups had to talk. She looked up to Zhi.
"But I'm a big girl! Why can't me an' Doll ever stay!"

Dollstop also stared up at them with an irritated look on his face. "Yeah, why? You n' Ma- I mean Boss did lotsa dangerous grownup stuff when he wasn't even older than me!"
August had to suppress a smile at the sudden memories since he was, after all, a responsible adult. "Well...because...umm....help me out here, Sis..."

"Allow me." Toph said with a smile. She then turned to both Kun and Doll, and her smile turned into a smirk. "Because if you two don't leave, you're going to have to listen to things like accounting and how the weather is today... and, most of all, if you don't leave, Doll," Toph then knelt besides Dollstop and whispered to him." I'm going to bury you under twenty feet of earth."

"Wh-wha!?" Dollstop immediately grabbed onto Kun's hand and started trying to drag her away from the conversation. "C'mon let's go! We don' wanna be here anymore, the grownups are probably just gonna talk about boring stuff, yup! I bet there's lotsa interesting stuff to do...umm...over there!!"
August grinned at Doll's effort at a retreat "I'd ask about what you said to him but it's probably better that I don't know." He turned his attention to Zhi next. "What we have to ask about might take a while, so first what is it that you said you wanted to talk to us about before?"

"Just the usual I'm going to bury you thing." Toph replied, scratching her head. "Didn't think it was going to work with this Dollstop."
"Yes, well... something weird has been happening with me the past few hours." Zhi said, crossing her arms. "I'm not a spiritual person like my Mom, or anyone else in this world... even if I'm supposed to be the bridge between this world and theirs. They just never talked to me... until this morning. I woke up with a headache and I started seeing things... pictures... with you two. But... you were different in them. Like everything about you two was switched."

August glanced down for a second and reflexively scuffed his foot against the ground, then grinned at Zhi nervously.
"Well, that's exactly what we wanted to talk to you about so I guess this saves us the trouble of super-awkward explanations. See...we've sorta...kinda....had our entire lives switched around with each other and we're not sure how it happened and nobody else seems to have noticed what's going on. We thought since you're the Avatar you could maybe help us out with that."

Zhi looked at the Toph and August, her eyebrow slowly being raised as the situation was explained. Once August finished, Zhi shook her head, scoffing. "Wait, wait. You have to be joking me. H-how is this even possible? I don't see you as being Doll's master, and I don't see her as being the blind earthbender! It just... doesn't work!"
"It actually does, Jellygirl." Toph replied, and a smirk appeared on her face. "And let me say, I do a pretty good job as the blind earthbender. Greatest earthbender of the multiverse."
"Even if what you guys are saying is true... I don't know how to talk with the spirits!" Zhi replied, getting a little bit worried. "They never talk to me, and I don't even know if they're the ones behind this... mind flip!"

August frowned at Zhi's reply, doing his best to ignore the "you don't fit as Doll's Master" comment.
"Well, that's another potential solution come to nothing then unless you think you want to give it a try anyway. Hm, with luck maybe this is one of those "wears out at midnight" sort of things and we all go back to our own lives since this doesn't seem to be much of a 'curse' except for being really inconvenient. Just...promise not to tell anyone okay, we want to avoid freaking everyone out."
August tried his best to grin reassuringly, but he wasn't sure if he'd succeeded in calming her or Toph down about their apparent failure.

"Wears out of midnight?" Toph replied, rolling her eyes. "Come on, Blabberbrother. If it was something like that, a crazy old woman would have showed up, or we would have gotten fortune cookies before this whole mess began." She stared at August for a few moments before frowning. "Oh no. I'm starting to talk like you."
"... I could try. But we need to go to somewhere else." She snapped her fingers, pointing at August. "You once told me Aang meditated in calm and far away places. Maybe if we can find someplace like that, I could try to talk to the spirits?... Dad might be able to help you."

August had to suppress the urge to laugh at Toph's totally uncharacteristic, way-too-similar to his behavior and focus on the task at hand, though he still couldn't help grinning and snickering a little.
"Yeah, it would definitely be easier to contact the spirits at a place like that. You're right that Dad might be able to help us with this too, so it sounds like a plan. For someone who doesn't talk to spirits or anything like that, you're turning out to be pretty good at this whole Avatar thing, huh?

Zhi couldn't hold back a blush after her brother complimented her. "I-It's not hard, actually. I've had a great teacher, remember?" she said, before walking back to her home, yelling "Dad! August's here to see you!"
"Oh, Jellygirl." Toph said, facepalming. "You're so... less jelly in our world. Next thing you know, Mrs. Stabby will be even less stabby. See the effect you have on people, Blabberbrother?"
