It was a quiet day, news-wise, and there was, in fact, so little to report worldwide that the press resorted to printing commentary about a disturbingly pink asteroid that had been seen 'rolling' through the solar system. Little did they know that, less than a week later, this quickly-forgotten astronomical phenomenon would change the face of the world as they knew it... It landed in an unremarkable park in some English town, surviving re-entry disturbingly well but doing little more than requiring a reworking of a pond to accommodate the new black (it had burnt up a little, after all) rock in its centre. It sat there quietly for a few weeks before disgorging its inhabitant, a very average-looking man by the name of John Smith, who went on a mugging spree in order to collect a suit, though he was never caught... somehow. Within months, he was ruler of the USA and turning his attention towards the East. It was at this point that the contamination of the groundwater in that town became apparent, as some of its residents began to develop strange, and generally superficially worthless, powers. They had one thing in common (besides geography): a gut feeling that John Smith was evil (I mean, why was everyone ignoring his suggestion that the USA conquer the rest of the world one country at the time?) and a desire to stop him.
This is, quite simply, the actual, um, application of Moe's earlier idea: random powers (decided by moi, using the random button and checking they're seemingly useless enough) from the superpower wiki, and you have to work out how to use them to beat... John Smith. And no, it's not Kyon. Anyway, bio format: - Name:

Work in Progress Name: Julian Marchbanks Gender: Male Age: 17 Appearance: "What? Superpowers? No, haven't noticed." Personality: Julian is kind of absent-minded and spacey, and while he's intelligent he doesn't really apply it to very much, preferring to just live day by day. He loves tricks and jokes and occasionally acts kind of weird when he does pay attention to things. Power: Ask me. History: Is fond of grifts but has never really conned anyone outside of a few childhood games of Three-Card-Monte. not much else interesting about his life.

Name: Ernest Parker Gender: Male Age: 15 Appearance: ThisPersonality: An extremely quiet person, Ernest prefers to read above all else. If one wants him to know something, they'll probably have to loudly say his name a few times, or else they'll be drowned out by his books. When one has his attention, Ernest won't say much, preferring to listen silently, after which he'll give a short, one word reply, and return to his book, unless there's something incredibly important to do. He tends to use big words if he actually starts talking. Power: The ability to generate bubbles. History: Ernest's life hasn't been particularly interesting, having spent almost his entire life reading and studying.

Name: Dylan P. Rince Gender: Male Age: 16 Appearance: Like this.Personality: Since the beginning, Dylan has been a very naive person. Of course, years of seeing TV and reading various websites on the internet slowly turned him into a conspiracy theorist that truly believes in any ridiculous theory he'll stumble upon. He also will believe anything people tell him, so he's often bullied or used by his classmates. That doesn't mean, however, that Dylan is dumb, no, he's smart, and he often shows that- however, he chooses to believe in the wrong things. Loves tap dancing and old Hannah Barbera cartoons for some reason. Power: Nail Manipulation. History: Dylan comes from a family of people that really don't care about anything, which led to him being educated by the greatest thing ever created by mankind: television! Unfortunately, he only knew one channel: the Conspiracy Channel, whom with its crazy documentaries (like "were the pilgrims aliens?!") turned him into a conspiracy theorist.

- Appearance: "I've just been out getting supplies!"
- Personality: Claire is the cheerful sort. She's outgoing, and very energetic, and very polite in addition to her cheerfulness. She adores art, and making art, and is skilled with drawing. She likes showing off her art skills, and meeting new people in general. Claire likes sweets, as well, and will often stop what she's doing if she has the money to afford them specifically to go and buy an overabundance of sweets, and then get sick from eating all of them in one go.
- Power: Matter Ingestion
- History: Claire's life was not eventful.

- Name: Gabriel Blackwell
- Gender: Male
- Age: 16
- Appearance: Mock his bracelets at your peril.
- Personality: Serious minded and utterly deadpan, although he does have a habit of saying the most absurd things in his usual serious, deadpan tone from time to time. Despite his demeanour, he's not actually a cold person; he's very loyal to his friends and will do his best to protect them, but he tends to favour rational, thought out solutions to things rather than rushing in headlong and unprepared.
- Power: Viscosity Manipulation
- History: Not much of interest. Came out about a year ago, but tries not to make a big deal out of it.

[/li][li]Name: Lea Weibland [/li][li]Gender: Female [/li][li]Age: 15 [/li][li]Appearance: Hm.[/li][li]Personality: Cool and collected, Lea appears to be a bit detached from the world. However, that's just her regular way of appearance, as she's borderline obsessed with several of her interests, which include foreign media and artwork. She's a bit quiet and doesn't speak her mind much either though when she does open her mouth she's almost always serious. [/li][li]Power: Haemokinetic Combat[/li][li]History: Lea is an otaku who was kinda happy she got some spiffy supernatural powers. She just wished it wasn't so villainous looking.

Name: Jason Steele Gender: Male Age: 15 Appearance: Why is he wearing that headband? Well, why not?Personality: Some people would call Jason lazy, he prefers laidback and/or relaxed personally. He has a tendency to coast through classes, studying just enough to get average grades. Despite this, he is actually willing to put effort in when something interests him or needs to be done. Power: Cape Manipulation...seriously? History: Jason's life hasn't been particularly interesting.

- Gender: Physically male, identifies as female.
- Age: 19
- Appearance: "Y-You think I'm cute?"
- Personality: So long as topics steer away from any uncomfortable territory, Ashley is generally cheerful and has a habit of teasing people about the most minor of mistakes, regardless of whether or not it's actually deserved. She's also rather spacey, and it's easy for her to get distracted mid-conversation by absolutely anything.
- Power: Sound Conversion. Currently, she can only turn sound into incredibly minor static shocks. At least this means that she can sparkle.
- History: Ashley's life was completely uneventful up until two years ago, when she finally stopped being so secretive about things. Stuff didn't go as catastrophically wrong as she had feared and expected, but there was still enough disruption--and idiocy from her younger brother--that she ended up having to repeat the year. Quite a lot of people have forgotten that she's the other Ashley they no longer see around.

- Name: Jack Gardener
- Gender: Male
- Age: 18
- Appearance: Jack is a rather tall, wiry and gawky young man. The best way to describe his body is that he looks almost like a lamp post that has had a blond wig thrown on it. His skin is also slightly paler than the norm, and he has light green eyes. In terms of actual clothing he is almost never seen without a faded, ragged edged kutte (liberally festooned with fabric patches for various bands, a good three quarters of which he has never actually listened to) and similarly battered jeans. He also insists upon wearing spiked bands.
Jack's shoes, meanwhile, are simply a regular pair of trainers (if pressed on the matter, Jack insists that he'll get around to wearing something more heavy metal-ly some day). He also has a pair of black headphones draped around his neck.
- Personality: Jack is obsessed with "sticking it to the man" and showing off how cool he is to his peers (which often overlaps with each other and provides an easy way to get him to do what you want - within reason, naturally). Unfortunately for him, he is absolutely terrible at it. Mild mannered and polite, Jack often ends up making a half-hearted gesture of rebellion only to nullify it within the next few minutes (or, in some cases, in the same sentence).
He does have a genuine love of heavy metal, but he secretly harbours a desire to play country music instead, which he vehemently denies.
- Power: Chain Projection. Jack can create chains... but only if they're no longer than a ruler and no thicker than his thumbs.
- History: Jack's formative years were much the same as any other child's, filled with (mostly) carefree misadventure. As he matured, however, he felt a need to "rebel" against the system (after all, that was what all the cool dudes were doing).
The direct result of this was the setting up of the heavy metal band Irn Balloon (which was most definitely not inspired by Led Zeppelin) with his buddies, which immediately started a reign of indifference with its' - at best - average and - at worst - awful songs.
Operating out of Jack's parents' garage, Irn Balloon (and Jack) are still looking for the big opportunity to stick it to the man.
Um... yeah. I just found the concept of a singularly inoffensive heavy metal fan bedecked in the stereotypical clothing associated with the genre kind of amusing. Hopefully this doesn't clash too much with the RP's tone; if you want, I'll change it.
