"How did you come to work for my grandfather?" you ask. You think this might let you know a little bit more about both your grandfather and the maid herself. Efficient information gathering! Well, you do want to be a detective in the future, after all.
The maid, still blushing from the attention she's been giving, responds slowly.
"I... I was in an orphanage, when I first met him," the maid begins, "He had another maid with him... It was almost fourteen years ago. And... the maid... I... I don't really remember everything that happened, but one of the most clear things in my memory is the both of them smiling at me."
She smiles, weakly. This memory appears to be a fond one. "Soon after that... I learned that I had been adopted. And I was taken here. The maid... Her name was Sakura Naoko. She was the one who had persuaded your grandfather to adopt me. Though really... she was the one who acted as my mother. She took care of me, and raised me, and treated me as her own daughter. I never knew why they had adopted me, or why they had even picked me. But... I was so happy."

Something hits you in the back, hard enough to knock you over. The maid flinches and lets out a cry of shock as you hit the ground. Squirming, you attempt to get up, but whatever it is has its arms tightly wrapped around you.
"Cousin! It's been a really long time and you didn't even say hi!"
"A-Arisu-san...?"
Your... weird, energetic cousin has just sprang across the room and tackled-hugged you to the ground. Somehow, you don't remember her being quite this odd.
"... Otosan, what's the weird girl doing to onee-chan?" you hear your baffled little sister ask.
"... Arisu-chan, you..." your father seems to be at a loss for words.
How do you respond?

[ ]"... Please get off. >.<"
[ ]"What the hell?! Let off!"

"Sorry, I didn't notice you," you apologize, attempting to turn yourself over so you can hug your cousin. You feel a bit bad for blowing Alice off like that, now that you think about it. What were you thinking? One thing is certain, though: You can't exactly return the hug from this position. "... Um... could you let go? I can't really greet you very well like this..."
Alice... doesn't respond, still hugging you.
"... Arisu-san...?"
Eventually, she releases you and stands up, allowing you to get to your feet. You really don't remember your cousin being so... touchy-feely, really. She grins, and rubs the back of her head. "Sorry, Ai, but I really like hugs! I just couldn't control myself! Anyway, this place is awesome! His library is full of all these books, he must be some kind of occult genius!"
And it becomes very evident that your cousin hasn't changed very much, at all. As you remember, even when you were eight, and she was ten, she was deeply interested in the occult. You've since stopped believing in such things and become more focused on investigation and detective skills. In fact, you were always into more realistic works, especially detective fiction. Alice, evidently, still believes in such things, judging by the rambling she's gone into. Aren't some of those things from Harry Potter? "Um... that's nice, Arisu-san..."
Your mother puts an abrupt end to the occult ramblings.
"Arisu-chan, where's Arekusandā-san?" she asks, approaching your cousin with a cheerful smile.
"Father is speaking with the legal team," replied Alice, frowning slightly that her ramblings were interrupted. Inwardly, you sigh in relief. She turns to leave, "I'll go tell him you're here!"
She hurries off.
The Maid seems to have retreated for now, but she's still a little ways off... still looking startled. The Butler is still around, but he seems to be making sure the book Alice had is undamaged.
Shiro walks up to you, still staring after Alice and frowing. "Who was she?"
How do you respond?

"She's our cousin, Shiro-chan," you begin, smiling down at your little sister. It had been so long since you had last talked to Alice, had Shiro still been a baby, then? It had been ten years... "Arisu-san."
Your uncle had moved to Scotland, and adopted many Western costumes. Shiro tilts her head.
"I never met her before!" she replies, folding her arms with a frown. She appears to not completely believe this girl she never met before was related.
"But you did!" you reply, "You just don't remember. It was the year you were born, so I can't say I'm too surprised."
"Eh? But she's weird..."
"That's not a very nice thing to say."
"But it's true! She tackled you and talked about all kinds of weird things!"
You have to admit, your cousin is pretty weird. She's always been like that, really. "Well... don't be rude to her, Shiro-chan."
"... I won't..."
Looking up, you notice that the Maid has left the room. Well, you still have a little time now...
What do you do?

You put on a pleasant, cheerful expression as you look down at your sister. Might as well get used to this house's kitchen, so...
"So... Wanna go make pancakes, Shiro-chan ^_^?" you ask, practically pronouncing your expression through some arcane means. Your little sister looks at your strangely.
"... Pan... cakes?" she asks, likely confused by the sudden proposal of pancakes. You smile.
"Well, of course, we can get used to the kitchen before settling in here!" you say, patting her on the head. She blinks.
"Um... oh. Okay... pancakes do sound good!"
"Mother? Father?" you ask, "I'm going to take Shiro-chan to look through the house, okay?"
"Alright, just don't wander off too far," your father says. Your mother nods in agreement. You take your sister's hand and head off to the left hallway!
... Only then to remember that this is your first time in this mansion and you have no idea where you're going.
What do you do?
