Ozu smiled and patted Fate's head as he let Jian sit down. The young boy looked up at everyone with a smile before standing up and taking Fate's hand, waving to the two.
"Bye mama! Bye papa!"

"Don't be afraid to ask for help, Fate." Azula said as they were leaving. "I know you can handle it, but if at any point, you feel like you need help, have a servant call me, I'll come here in a second!"
The two royals left, although Fate could still hear Azula talking about leaving Fate with a faster way to contact them "in case something bad happens", leaving the two siblings alone.

What happened next might or might not have counted as "something bad" in Azula's opinion. Either way, August burst out of a closet riding a giant metal honey badger.
"Hi-hiiii!!~" Despite the sudden appearance, he was dressed up in his best clothes and looked cleaned up and generally presentable for once, so it was fairly obvious that he'd been planning to stop by the palace today.

August shrugged as he slipped off the metal beast's back, patting it's head before it dissolved away.
"We haven't really hung out much lately, so I sorta umm..."borrowed" Dad's time train to come and visit! I guess maybe he might've brought me over here if I just asked nice, but maybe he wouldn't and anyway nobody ever lets me steal stuff anymore."
August's eyes locked onto Jian as he walked over to the pair of siblings. "Wow! He's even cuter and adorabler than last time I visited!!" His face immediately lit up as he picked up the child prince, spun him around and hugged him
"Umm...where are your parents anyway? They're usually yelling at me for stuff by now..."

August noticed Jian squirming around and set him down.
"Really? Awesome! We can have lots of fun and your dad won't even be constantly giving me mean looks even though I totally haven't done anything bad for like a whole year and I can help take care of Jian! I can be an awesome babysitter. I watch Zhi all the time an' they're almost the same age right?"
August didn't really see any problems with this plan at all and he certainly didn't think he'd be causing any problems for Fate.

August nodded happily at Fate's reluctant acceptance of his presence, pretty used to her reserved and quiet attitude after more than three years of being "bestest friends"
He grinned suddenly "Oh, I almost forgot!" He dashed back into the closet he'd come out from and soon came back holding a cardboard box. "Some lady in a trenchcoat with a funny hat, pink hair and a cat tail gave me this for you! She seemed kinda familiar but I couldn't tell who she was...anyway, I was supposed to open it with you next time I saw you, so here ya go!"
August opened the package to reveal multiple bee costumes of a strangely high quality that far surpassed the sort of thing children would usually buy at a costume store. August would have reacted with shock, but he knew enough not to question strange gifts dropped off by mysterious strangers along with oddly specific instructions.
"So I guess someone wanted you to play dress up. So...you gonna try it on? It was an enigmatic gift, so maybe it'll be the start of an adventure!"

August grinned in an attempt to be reassuring.
"Sure it is! It doesn't feel magical and if it had some kinda poison on it I'd be sick already! Besides, your parents aren't here and the servants won't care so what's the worst thing that could happen?"

Once Fate started blushing over the idea a mischievous grin crept across August's face.
"ehehehehehe...y'know, showing obvious embarrassment over something like this is totally a bad thing for royalty. You'll have to put on way worse stuff and do much more embarrassing things at state ceremonies n' stuff. So! As your bestest friend ever and the person responsible for looking out for you I insist you put on this bee costume!"
He ended by dramatically pointing at her as he kicked the box of costumes over to her. If nothing else, only making a dramatic order out of things was a sign of how much he'd matured over the last year or so.

August grinned again, though this time the expression wasn't so full of meanness
"Yay! You'll put it on and then...I dunno what happens after that but I bet it'll be fun!! Maybe we should put Jian in a funny costume too and take him around to see if people will give us candy like they do in some places! But..can he eat candy yet? He's really little and I don't know if Zhi can eat candy yet either...but hey, that means we get more of it! As long as we go to places that give out good candy anyway...but you're a princess so you can probably just ask for some huh?"
He leaned against a wall in thought, trying to figure out what would happen after Fate put the outfit on.
"We're supposed to be taking care of Jian right?"

Fate looked at the package in her hands. Part of her was definitely intrigued, mainly about seeing what she'd look like wearing the costume, even if the rest of her mind was trying not to be.

"ehehehehe right, no trick-or-treating yet. Anyway, should probably go somewhere else while you change since you're a girl and a princess and everything."
August scooped up Jian with his friendliest smile on his face and propped him up onto his shoulders. "C'mon buddy, let's give your big sister some privacy while she gets dressed up funny!"
August proceeded to exit the room while making whooshing noises and tilting around like they were flying to try and amuse the prince.

Once she was alone, Fate sighed, set the package down, and unwrapped it. Inside, she found what looked at first glance like an ordinary yellow two-piece swimsuit with a skirt. On the second glance, it was clear that both the skirt and top had black stripes on them, and there was a pair of wings attached to the back.
With another sigh, she slipped off the robes she was wearing before, picked up the bottom half, and managed to slip it on and into place before realising there was a stuffed abdomen attached to it. She wiggled her hips gently, and it bounced.
Cute. Another sigh, happier this time, before slipping the top on and pulling her hair, which was still down to her hips even though she'd grown, up through it. There was also a pair of yellow and black striped thigh-highs and a pair of black shoes in the package. She slipped them on, and just sat there floating in mid-air, with a slightly playful look on her face. Part of her wasn't sure what she'd been so worried about; after all it wasn't that much worse than her Barrier Jacket.

Jian continued squirming as August took him out of the room, although he stopped and began giggling when August made whooshing noises.

"I know, but we have to wait till after she changes clothes." August set the prince down safely out of accidental peeping distance and tried to think of a way to keep him amused until Fate was done changing and told them to come back in.
"Hmm...wanna see some magic tricks?" Without waiting for a reply since he was too excited to show off for potentially appreciative children, August pulled out a handful of gold pieces and sent them spinning off of his fingertips and through the air to dance around Jian's head while making them hum in different tunes by vibrating them at different speeds.
Once the little metallic song was finished, August pulled a sword out from its fused-to-his-skin state and sliced the coins up into pieces so small so quickly that to the three year old it would probably seem like they had exploded into gold dust, only to reconstitute them into gold coins in his palm and hold them out for the child's inspection.
"So, what did you think? Was that a fun trick?"
Hopefully Fate would call them back in or go out to check on them before her brother got bored.

Fate dropped gently to the floor from where she was hovering and straightened the bottom half of her costume, eliciting another jiggle from the stuffed item sewn to it. She stuck her head round the door to make sure no-one else was watching, then quietly walked up behind the pair.
"You're right... That does look fun."

August spun around, surprised by Fate suddenly showing up behind him. He was even more surprised by the bee costume. He barely stopped himself from laughing from sheer shock, instead actually looking at it and attempting to seem serious.
"Y'know, I'm kind of surprised that bee costume fits you so well, like it was tailored to you or something. Hmm...I wonder how the person who made this got your measurements..." Luckily, August was distracted from this line of thought by the stuffed stinger.
"Wow! Look at this thing! Hee!~" He couldn't resist poking the stinger a couple of times before he stepped back and grinned. "So, how does it feel? Is dressing up in costumes and stuff still super-embarrassing?"

"Well, that's good then! If you can walk around in a funny bee costume with a jiggly stinger you shouldn't have any problems wearing all the fancy clothes you have to wear to be a princess!"
August wished he had a way to take a picture of this, but he supposed he'd just have to treasure the hilarious memory. At the very least something like this would be fun to tease Fate about later.

The two soldiers that usually stood guard by Fate's room (in case she needed anything and to protect her: after all, she was the Princess) returned from their short break, and stopped right at the entrance of the corridor, staring wide-eyed at the Princess... wearing a bee outfit.
"... What?" One of them asked, rubbing his eyes.
