In the Multiversal Standard Year 200X, a combat robot named Murray was given a mysterious device called the "Cyber Shifter" to help the Gokaigers defend the city of Neo-Angel Grove from evil monsters known as "Grongi." The battle was long and hard, but Murray realized that one robot- even one with the powers of so many Robot Masters- would need help to protect the innocent.
Now, twenty years later, he's travelled throughout the various worlds finding six other mechanical beings dedicated to protecting all the citizens of the multiverse from evil! They are the Machine Sentai...
CYBER-RANGER!
And here you can ask questions of Murray (Cyber-Red), Pharaohman (Cyber-Yellow), Nove (Cyber-Pink), Alita (Cyber-Green), Data (Cyber-Black), Ropponmatsu (Cyber-Blue), and Cyber-Orange!

Here's one for Murray/Cyber-Red to kick things off: why have you chosen mechanical beings in specific? Do you feel a special sort of kinship with your comrades that might not be there with pure organics?

"Eh, not so much that as the fact that the cyber-shifter using the robot keys alters internal workings and it might be painful as hell for a purely organic being."

"Two questions: won't it hurts for cyborg too? Also, have you got an origin story yet?"

"Look, these things work on Power Rangers logic. The changes don't hurt cyborgs for some reason. Also, check the first post for the group's origin story, mine is that I was made in a factory, became a robot gladiator, beat an opponent through perseverance at insane odds, used the money to get lots of upgrades, got sucked into a newly forming universe and helped shape it through scientific progress, lived there for a year, got bored, joined the Red Pirates, fought some stuff, got the Cyber-Shifters, and formed the group."

Right, this one can be handled by anyone (and it can be answered by more than one person!): what's it like being a cyborg/robot? Have you ever wondered how it'd be if you were human/entirely flesh and blood?
Also, do you have any funny stories to relate since you first met?

{not-IC answer because late at night} Unlike somebody, Alita asked for this. And then for upgrades.
Funny stories... She wasn't in much of a funny world.

"Well, being a robot's pretty cool. Even if I can't heal naturally, all I need to do is find a mechanic. Oh, and the ability to upgrade my systems, replace damaged parts, and never needing to sleep except to save power is cool. And funny stories... well, you should have seen Nove's face when she found out what she had to do to transform."

"Sure thing! I'm Murray, that's Nove, Pharaoh Man, Alita, Data, Ropponmatsu, and some Cyborg who refuses to tell us his name."

"Can Faversham call the Cyborg Colt?"

"Sure thing, Faversham. I call him Citrus. Because, you know, orange."

"Being a cyborg, is... well... I'm not sure how to explain it," said the Cyborg (also known as Cyber-Orange, Colt, and Citrus depending on who you asked). "I guess you could say I..."
The young man sucked air through his teeth for a moment, clearly finding what he was going to say next a touch annoying. "I never asked for this, unlike someone else. Still, being cybernetically enhanced has its advantages: almost everyone in a room tends to sit up and take notice if you can fire bomblets from your shoulders. And anyway, it's not like I can take back my organic limbs. In all, I'm probably going to figure out why this happened, stop some bad guys, and try to have fun along the way. Y'know, the usual."
"As for funny stories... that's tough," said the cyborg, pausing to think. "Only thing I can think of is that when I first activated my glasses, I wasn't quite used to my augmentations yet, so I kept banging into things if I wasn't paying attention. 'Course, that doesn't happen so much now - my vision is augmented, after all."
He smiled when Murray brought up Nove's reaction. "Heh, good times."
"Of course I want to be friends - hard to save the multiverse when you're fighting all the time with your comrades, right?" He then turned to address Murray. "And the only reason I haven't told you my name yet is because I still don't quite remember. I kind of like the name 'Colt', though. Might let everyone continue to call me that after I remember my name. I think my actual name sounds like something out of a bad fanfiction... I think."
Meowrin and Rain's question gave the Cyborg pause. Flicking his glasses on to hide his yellow-green artifical eyes, he said nothing for a minute or two. "Well... I haven't really thought about that - haven't had a reason to. I don't know how much of me they replaced, but since other cyborgs from the universe where I got these parts apparently have no problems with... that... I guess the answer is yes. I don't really intend to test that idea out, though. I've got bigger fish to fry and better things to do right now."

Post by Flanker on Jul 7, 2012 13:58:03 GMT -5
"Don't particularly like being a cyborg, but some parts of it are pretty neat. I'll just try to make the most of it. Initially kept hitting my head off of walls and doorways when I first used my glasses since I was getting used to things still. Can't quite remember my name, except for the fact that it sounds cheesy as all hell, like a 13 year old kid named me. I like the nickname 'Colt'. I might be able to have sex, but that's not something I'm interested in right now - saving the multiverse takes priority, and anyway, it creeps me out a bit. Don't know if that'll change with time" said the cyborg. He spoke in a terse, rapid manner, trying to get all of the information out of the way as soon as possible. "Anything else?"

"Hm... let me see... you're talking about Charge Man, right?" said the Pharaoh themed Robot Master. "He's a good person, and I have to admit I like the way he doesn't beat around the bush. He could use some tact, though. If all steampowered machines are like him, I guess it's fine, although their belligerence might get tiresome."
"Steam power... it's an old, outdated technology in my own world," said the Cyborg. "I like steam trains, and I do occasionally read steampunk literature, but it's not my thing on the whole. Sorry."
