It was that time once again. Every week, the Noelle family got together to sit down for a family dinner. Of course, close friends were also invited. In fact, the entire family was here, even Tangelo and Lemon. As usual, Kun and Darwin's puppies were cuddling as the flareon watched from the couch.
John and Alicia were cooking. It turned out John was actually a fairly good chef, and he was currently sauteing some mushrooms while waiting for the herb-crusted fish to finish baking. He loved these family get-togethers.
"Right, the fish and mushrooms are almost done... how are the vegetables coming?"

Zhi was sitting on the couch right next to Darwin, her legs crossed, reading a history book. She was already nineteen, so she wasn't in school anymore- no, the books were simply an excuse to ignore everyone else. Something had happened recently, and Zhi just wasn't in a talkative mood, so she continued to read her book, one hand slowly caressing Darwin's back.
Alicia nodded, moving the vegetables in the pan again. "They're doing fine, just a few more minutes. This new... oven... thing is really great!"

Sarah hopped off from behind Rinku atop Gurgles, and quickly walked to the door.
She knocked, while calling "SORRY IF WE'RE LATE, RINKU DECIDED TO HIT OMASHU ON THE WAY HERE!"
"We're not late!" Rinku protested.

There was a sudden whooshing noise and then August suddenly appeared inside the house, sheathing a sword as the rift in space-time closed behind him.
"Hi everyone!"
Dollstop stood next to him with a fake expression of indifference, even if every once in a while it dropped off his face as he looked around the house.
Tangelo was clinging onto August's leg, staring around at everything with openly sparkly eyes in contrast to his older brother's pretend lack of enthusiasm.

There was a woosh as Kun attempted to glomp all three of the new arrivals. Lemon went unnoticed, however, as she was currently making sure Tangelo behaved.
"Thanks for inviting me Augie." the demoness said, leaning her head on the traveler's shoulder.
Meanwhile, Qiang opened the door, a big smile on his face on seeing Sarah.
"Hey Sarah! Come on in, dinner's almost ready. You look great today, by the way."

August smiled and kissed Lemon. " I Wouldn't dream of leaving you behind, love. Besides, my parents seem to like you for some reason."
Meanwhile Tangelo had intercepted Kun's attempt to glomp all three of them and was cuddling up against his "aunt" and attempting to drag Dollstop into the mix with them despite his rapidly failing attempts to stay apart from them.
"W-wah! N-no, g-get off dummy! I don' wanna!" " But Dollyyyyyyyy!~"
Eventually he tripped, got dragged into the cuddle pile and dropped the act, resulting in a snuggly ball of chaos forming on the floor of the Noelles' house.

Zhi rolled her eyes as she watched the cuddle puddle from the sofa. Setting the book aside, she rested her head on a pillow near Darwin, and proceeded to stare at the ceiling with her arms crossed. "I'm too old for that type of thing." she said to Darwin, not even sure if the Pokemon was paying attention to her. "So I'm not going to do it. Don't try to force me into it."

Darwin looked up at Zhi with puppy dog eyes and then to the cuddle puddle while the eevees joined in the snuggly ball.
Lemon meanwhile, was staring at the cuddle puddle and gripping August's arm with her incredible strength. "So cuuuuuuuuuuute..."

"Oh no, no, no, don't give me those puppy eyes, Darwin. I'm not going there. You're not going to convince me. I won't do childish stuff like... that." Zhi said, frowning at the Flareon.
Meanwhile, at the kitchen, Alicia let out an "ah" as she finished mixing in the vegetables in the pan. "I think... they're done. Yeah, they're done. I'm not the cook here, though."

Rinku hopped off Gurgles, and headed in with Sarah. "Hi everyone!" Sarah said.
"Dad had a meeting, so he sent some cookies with us." Rinku said, revealing a box full of very chocolaty cookies that were in surprisingly good shape, despite being taken by Eel Hound.

Kun began tearing up when she heard Zhi wouldn't join them. "B-b-b-but big sis... Growin' up's no fun unless you can act childish now an' again..." The Flareon looked up at Zhi again and tilted its head. Kun shouted over when she realized Sarah was here. "...Oooh! Ooooh! Sarah, come hug us!"
Qiang smiled and took Sarah's hand, walking her inside. "Oh, could you put those in the kitchen, Rinku?"
In the kitchen, John had confirmed the vegetables were done as he removed the fish from the oven and hte mushrooms from the stove.

August's arm started coating itself in metal to prevent from being crushed, but even then he winced against the crushing grip, and though the Demon Sword was still smiling, his teeth were clenched slightly.
"H-honey...it's adorable...but you're crushing my arm...again..."
At Zhi's refusal to join them, Tangelo suddenly grinned at his aunt, obviously planning something. the Half-demon squirmed out of the cuddle pile and launched himself at Zhi in an attempt to glomp her.
"Auntie should be honored to cuddle with the amazing me! Embarrassment or age mean nothing in the snuggly presence of your future king! Mwahahahaha!"
Seeing a chance to escape (or maybe just that the cuddling was being moved to a new location) Dollstop walked over to Zhi and sat next to her, pretending to untangle himself from the other kids even though he leaned his head against his aunt.

Tangelo's attempt to start another cuddle puddle was stopped as he found himself face to face with Zhi's hand, as the girl easily held him back. "Don't even try." she said, standing up and glaring at him.
Alicia popped out of the kitchen, still wearing gloves. When she spotted Rinku and Sarah, she walked over to them and hugged the younger boy. "It's about time you two arrived! We should be done with dinner soon, so, you can have some time to relax. How is everything back in Republic City?"

"Good, the Kuai Ball tournaments are getting crazy, though!" Rinku said, before taking the cookies to the kitchen. "The other day a firebender was caught in the pros. Almost burned one of the other players!"
Meanwhile, Sarah accepted Kun's proposal by diving into the cuddlepile.

Kun had been about to glomp Zhi as well when Tangelo was blocked. This made Kun begin to cry as she plopped onto the ground and the puppies surrounded her in a vain attempt to cheer her up as the young airbender sobbed.
"B...big sis... w-why don't you like us anymore?"
Darwin turned to Zhi with a glare and then stuck her nose up in the air in the other direction, almost as she knew this was going to happen.
Lemon slowly released August's arm and began feeling it gently. "Sorry, love, it's just... so cute!"

Zhi's expression turned into a frown as she looked from Kun to Darwin. Once she noticed the Flareon glaring at her, she mouthed the word "what" before walking over to Kun. She knelt besides her sister and placed a hand on her head. "Hey, hey, don't say that. Of course I like you- no, no, I love you guys. You're my family. So stop crying, ok?"
Alicia followed Rinku, listening intently to every word he said. "I keep telling Falkon he needs to support less dangerous sports... well, it's good for the public image anyways."

Kun reached up and hugged Zhi, nuzzling into her and slowly stopping her crying. The puppies soon went back to cuddling with Sarah.
"O-Okay big sis..." Kun whimpered, wrapping her arms around her sister's neck.

Tangelo grinned evilly at the situation as Kun and Zhi hugged, then suddenly grabbed onto Dollstop and lifted his brother up over his head with some difficulty as the older boy flailed around in shock. "'G-gelo what do you think you're doing!!? Quit it!!"
The half-demon just grinned wider before shouting "SUPER-ULTRA-MEGA-HIGH-SPEED CUDDLE MISSILE ATTACK!!" and launching Dollstop across the room to Zhi so that he would land clinging onto the girl's back. Dollstop for his part mostly screamed in shock before attempting to cling to Zhi to stop from hitting the floor, almost exactly as planned was shortly followed up by Tangelo attempting to glomp everybody including the Eevee puppies.
August watched on transfixed with suddenly sparkly eyes, unaware of his clearly badly bruised arm
"So....crazy....cute...."

Dollstop's attempt to cling onto Zhi were met with success, and suddenly Zhi found herself in the middle of the cuddle puddle. As she tried to break free, she glared at Tangelo. "That's it, Gelo, I'm going to DROWN YOU--"
It was at that point that she noticed Alicia glaring daggers at her. Zhi smiled and hugged Tangelo. "Drown you in love~" she said, letting out a sigh of relief as Alicia nodded and walked back to the kitchen.

Kun smiled and snuggled up against Zhi. "You're the best big sister ever!"
Lemon was hugging August. "I'm so proud our little boy is this friendly."
As the Eevees left for the other cuddle puddle, Qiang leaned down to help Sarah up. "I'll tell you what, I'll hug you as long as you want."

Alicia peeked out of the kitchen. "Kids, please get the table ready. We should be done with the cooking soon... I-I think." she said, shrugging, and walking back into the kitchen to help John organize the ingredients.

"It's not that dangerous, normally." Rinku said, "Firebending is strictly banned, and it's not like a ball's going to do much to someone."
"Heh, of course you would!" Sarah laughed, "I could just floor you if you tried otherwise!"
She then proceeded to look for plates.

Qiang showed Sarah to the plates while Lemon and August headed on to the table.
Spot, meanwhile, had taken advantage of the doggie door to head outside for a bit and chase a squirrel. He came back and began hoisting the puppies onto the couch before curling up and sleeping next to Darwin.

"Oh yes, that's what they all say." Alicia said, "Until suddenly, someone gets hit in the face and loses a tooth. And then someone breaks an arm. Then a leg. I'm telling you, your father needs to focus on less dangerous sports... like that new probending sport." She said, picking up a set of plates. "And yes, I know your father has this whole "things for benders and non-benders" policy, but still, it wouldn't hurt to support something different." She set the plates aside on a counter and turned to face Rinku, lowering her voice: "By the way, I need to talk to you about Sarah. How is she doing? Fine, right? She isn't seeing other men, is she? Only Qiang, right?"

About to question the safety of throwing rocks and fire at each other, Rinku was caught off guard by Alicia's last question.
"Uhh..." Rinku stuttered, "No... Why would you think something like that?"

Tangelo continued hugging Zhi but didn't seem to notice the threatening undertone of Zhi's words or even understand what she meant by that. "Of course Auntie Zhi would be filled with a bottomless ocean of love for the amazing me!" He finished this statement by kissing her on the cheek with a 'mwah!' noise.
Dollstop was still cuddling with Kun, but had caught a little more of what was going on thanks to his Soul Perception, his face going blue from shock at how scary Alicia was. He wasn't surprised by it, having grown up around her, but seeing something way too similar to his own madness wavelength run through her for a second was pretty shocking.
"S-so...I g-get my Madness from Nana then?"
August chuckled at the scenes unfolding around him and then glanced back to Lemon. "You know, seeing Mom like this makes me sort of glad we never officially dated."

Once Tangelo kissed Zhi on the cheek, the girl gritted her teeth and launched herself towards Tangelo, trying to grab the boy by his throat. Of course, she didn't actually do it, and ended up grabbing him by his shirt, still holding Kun with the other arm. She lifted him over his head and starting to spin him around- not realizing that while her objective was to cause pain to the little boy, she might actually end up making him smile.
Alicia smiled, and waved her hand. "Oh, nothing important. Just checking to see if my son made the right choice. Good thing he did, eh?" She chuckled and placed a hand on Rinku's shoulder, abruptly glaring at him. "Don't tell her a thing."

Lemon shivered, grasping her fiance's hand. "My bosses can be terrifying when they want to be. I've dealt with the Super Pervert Meowrin. I've felt the full power of Ms. Etna. And none of that compares to how scary your mother is."
Kun, meanwhile, was clinging tightly to Zhi and laughing as she was spun around. Qiang finished setting the table with Sarah before giving her the promised hug and sitting down next to her.
John smiled as he walked out of the kitchen with a large pot of mushrooms, banging the spoon against the side as he set it- and a tray of fish- on the table.
"Zhi, quit roughhousing, dinner's ready. Herb-crusted catfish salmon with sauteed mushrooms and vegetable rice."

August put an arm around Lemon in an attempt to be reassuring, though his mother's sadistic tendencies terrified him too. "Well, now you know why I'm always so polite and well behaved...and why I dislike cooking utensils."
Tangelo giggled as he was being spun around and around, enjoying the dizzy feeling and snuggling against Zhi once she stopped, not even noticing that it was supposed to be painful. "Auntie Zhi is the bestest Auntie ever!"
Dollstop on the other hand was trying to quietly escape to the table without alerting Kun or Dollstop or irritating an increasingly frustrated Zhi.

Sarah smiling after the hug(although she had been smiling anyway), said "Sounds delicious!", as Rinku hastily sat down as far from Alicia's usual seat as possible.
"Challenge accepted, Noelle." he thought, "Challenge accepted!"
