Weaving through the blasts of flame, Rain went on the defensive... and started cackling maniacally as Jian got in close. Yes, her sword was far better at long range most of the time but there was one thing where it was absolutely imperative that she be in close range to pull off properly. In one smooth movement Rain turned to face away from her opponent, smirking back at him like the technique's first owner."Tsubame Gaeshi!" Even held back a little so that he wouldn't be shredded and just scratched, the technique was still terrifying. Block one of the strikes and the other two, concurrent with it, would certainly hit. Dodge one and the others got you. It was a prison of blades with no escape; the only defence was to be immune to the force Rain could impart to the monohoshizao.

Jian, seeing his sword blocked, decided to at least get in a hit and began breathing fire directly at Rain's face. Of course, this was before he noticed the two more cuts. His serious demeanor dropped as he blinked and made sure that his sword was still clashing with his opponent's- it was. He'd been cut by something else.
"I.. what... how did you do that?!"

If the fire had been kept up a bit longer, Rain's rapid duck after executing the attack wouldn't have been sufficient, but since he stopped after noticing the injuries she had time to back off and get some ground, noting the change in feeling as she went from hard earth to damp grass.
"Something called the Second Magic. In effect, a lifetime of practice has given me the ability to break reality through sword swings and attack from three directions in one attack," Rain answered, keeping her eyes trained on Jian... even though she really wanted to look around and see where she'd left her shoes.

"...Incredible! So... so that's the result of a lifetime of training?!"
Jian was obviously very excited by this prospect, smiling as he shifted his leg closer and launched a stream of fire.
"Miss, would you be willing to teach me? Even if I can never match such skill, any lessons I can receive will surely help me improve!"

"I don't know," Rain replied, weaving aside to avoid the stream of fire and frowning, "I have a girlfriend I need to keep in contact with, I'm not sure if I'm cut out to be a teacher, and I really don't know if your family and their friends would want me to be teaching you anything. Besides, our swords and styles are completely different..."
The girlfriend comment was mostly because Rain had yet to check the relative timeflows between here and the Netherworld. Time there always appeared to progress weirdly slower than almost anywhere else but there was always the chance that this place would be an exception...

"Right, sorry... it's just that that technique is incredible. I've never seen anything like it! ...well, father's sword does that thing where it can cut down buildings, but they end up going back to normal if he wasn't aiming for them.

"Even King Arthur views this technique as patently absurd. Apparently, no-one should be able to break reality by spending decades trying to cut a swallow in flight," Rain said cheerfully, "Now... you'd best get going and get those cuts cleaned, as well as explaining why you've got cuts. I might be back at some time in the future, so... may as well ask if I'd be allowed to teach you."

"Oh, wandering swordsmen are quite common. Plus, look at all the old tales, it's always the wandering swordsmen who pledge allegiance to no nation that end up being the most skilled, no one will fault me for it. I thank you for your offer, miss."
With that, Jian sheathed his sword and bowed.

Grinning, Rain grabbed the footwear she'd discarded, having finally spotted it, and tied the laces together so that they could hang around her neck. Then, taking a deep breath, the white-haired girl made what appeared to be a deep incision into thing air... leading to cutting a hole to another world entirely. It wasn't open long enough for Jian to get out, though.
