Kraut, you'll have to start, I don't have any idea what this guy looks like. And Rain's highly belligerent to people with swords. =P

Rain nodded back, assessing him and adjusting her haori. His clothing didn't look particularly constricting and... he had a sword. Whilst she would have had no choice to fight if he had come earlier and seen a girl emerge from a rip in the air before slashing it shut, now it was just a matter of personal preference. And personal preference dictated that she challenge anyone reasonably competent that she happened to come across.
"Hold right there. I challenge you to a fight. If you decline... I'll attack anyway and you miss the chance to get into position," Rain called, sheathe shoved into an implausibly deep pocket and excessively long blade rested over her shoulder.

Jian looked noticeably confused, even as he reached for his sword. This was highly confusing. A friendly greeting led to this?
"I... what? ...You're challenging the prince of the Fire Nation to a sword fight? I... I accept, I suppose. But to first blood, not to the death, agreed?"

"Sure," the girl replied, stepping forwards and grasping the hilt with her free hand in a smooth motion that spoke of lots of practice. Still not having assumed a stance, though, Rain made what would normally be considered a reckless decision to attack, blade arcing down towards Jian. Fortunately for the white-haired girl, she had the much longer weapon (it was nearly as long as Anno was, after all) and so much practice that the ability to attack from any stance, non-stance, or awkward position was actually a skill of hers.

Jian jumped backwards, bringing his own sword around in attempt to knock Rain's sword from her hands. He'd prefer not to do any lasting damage to his opponent, and thus was working to use nonlethal strikes as usual.

Rain's sword dipped below the strike intended to remove it from her grasp as the swordswoman herself dashed forwards, pressing her offence and bringing the blade up once more to, by appearances, rip open Jian's stomach. She was following the first blood rule... it just happened to look no less aggressive and murderous than normal. All the better to throw her opponent off guard.

Jian's eyes widened as flames burst from his feet, launching him backwards and away from the strike. This could end badly for him if he messed up.

Rain's eyes lit up in a feral grin as the swordsman rushed away in a blaze of fire. He was someone more than a mere noble with a sword! Yeeeeeeeeeees, it had been too long since she'd found someone willing to take a random challenge and accomplished enough to possibly deserve Tsubame Gaeshi. Still rushing forwards, the swordswoman slid to a halt with the purple coat fluttering behind her, blade extended one-handed to try and pierce his stomach.

Jian did another blazing jump backward, inhaling deeply before he landed. Uncle Zuko had taught him all about the importance of breath control in these fights... and that showed when he launched himself over Rain, trying to strike at her shoulders as he did.
"You're quite good at this, ma'am."

Twisting, Rain deflected the blade and pretty much kicked her legs too far around as she returned to facing Jian--all to use the momentum to try and slice open his arm as he landed. "You're not shabby, at least."

Jian's eyes widened as he landed, staggering backwards as his foe's sword scraped him. He checked the wound and saw a small trickle of blood.
"It looks like you win, milady. May I continue my journey now?"

"I want to see everything that you're capable of, I haven't had an interesting fight in ages," Rain said, resting the bloodied blade across her shoulders and grinning, "It's been at least two years since I found anyone that forced me to use my special technique, they were all so confident in their swordsmanship. You... you have fire. Show it to me."

"I'd rather not miss. I have only fought you because you said you would attack me anyway. Now, if you will excuse me."
Jian began walking, sheathing his sword and hoping this woman would see reason. If not... well, she would indeed get to see fire.

"The threat still stands," Rain told him, frowning as she positioned herself in his path. There was no risk of death, so there was no way in hell that she was going to let this guy--a prince, wasn't he?--just pass her by when there was fun. Wait... fire, prince, Fire Nation... "Is your father called John or something?"

"...My father is Ozu the Multi-King, but he knows someone by the name of John Noelle. Do you know him?"

"I met him about... twenty years ago is the best approximation for the only place I know with constant timeflow, it's longer for me," Rain answered, continuing to ignore the rivulet of blood running down the nodachi towards her throat, "Amazing how time flies when you're perfecting swordsmanship."

"Briefly. Now, take up your sword and fight me properly!" Rain demanded, getting impatient, "Or would you like me to demonstrate my special attack so you know all my secrets? It might even the playing field a little."

"...Very well then, miss, but I don't take any pleasure in fighting you."
Jian took out a bandage and wrapped up his arm to stop the bleeding before taking a defensive stance.

Keeping to her word, Rain stepped back from the youth and grasped her sword in both hands once again before leaping into a single stroke. At least, it looked like a single stroke. In actuality, not caged by the technique, it was a trio of slashes in a single instant, some of them originating from thin air. One mostly surrounded his foe, a slower vertical strike stopped ducking or jumping from being a viable option, and the third strike stopped escape to the side that would otherwise be open. It was a prison of slashes.

Jian did his burning leap backwards, inhaling deeply before breathing a short stream of fire at his opponent.

Rain started running as soon as he leapt backwards, starting an inward spiral towards the male that required her to do just one thing: stay ahead of the stream of flame if he chose to follow her. If he chose to try something else, then she'd have to adapt... but just throwing fire at people was always rather limited.

Jian switched the direction he was turning, hoping to catch Rain by surprise or at least force her to stop advancing.

Turning the other direction didn't help, really, because Rain just cut out the inward spiral and ran straight at him, aiming to prick him and cause minor bleeding. She seemed to be going for a 'point' system, now, with the way she wasn't attempting to remove head from shoulders.

Jian caught his breath before jamming his fist forward, sending another gout of flame at Rain, following up by a large, vision-obscuring wide blast so he could get in closer.

Having a one and a half metre long sword, Rain managed to get the prick in before having to run backwards, away from the flame. She stopped with the sword rested on her shoulder again and just outside of the maximum range that Jian had demonstrated. "Never go on the offence if it won't stop your opponent's attack, unless you're hoping for a mutual kill."

"Right, right... I don't know where my mind is today."
Jian leapt upwards again, giving a wide burst of fire as he did so, and swiping the sword at Rain's shoulder before using his breath to propel himself backwards.

Rain dropped practically to the ground to go beneath the fire--not that any injury would cause irreparable damage, assuming it didn't remove both of her limbs and therefore her ability to hold a blade, but getting hurt even as a gambit? Not likely--and interposed the lengthy nodachi to deflect Jian's sword away from what was now likely her head. As he moved backwards she unfolded in his direction and once again used momentum to her advantage to close the gap to something she could strike from. The result? A swift slash at his thighs from someone still only half risen.

Jian smiled and thrust himself forward using his flames, dodging the swipe, and getting into closer range with his four-foot sword. He'd keep using bursts of fire to close the gap, and swiping at his opponent when he got the chance.
