OK, I guess I might as well start a thread for ideas on this one.
The basic idea was "SIs get pulled somewhere and wind up as Magical Girls". Beyond that, I got nothing.
So... time to start suggesting things.

Hm, well...do we have a setting? I know you were trying to come up with a Japanese town name at one point but I'm not sure if that was for this or that fic you're working on. If that was for the fic, I'd suggest either somewhere in the UK for convenience or Japan for tradition's sake.
Also, you mentioned not being sure if the characters just become magical girls or if they should get aged down to their teens at one point. Not sure if you're still considering that or not, but if so, I don't really mind either way. So long as we don't get to into the fridge horror that comes with that sort of thing at least.
Um, just a couple of things I remembered being discussed off the top of my head, ehe...might edit/post again when it's not 4am.

I see. So, we've got that.
Um, right...what else do we need...the age thing, how the characters get their powers, I think we had macguffins worked out, um...are the villains people in a similar situation to the PCs, original villains, characters taken straight out of magical girl series or something else?

I guess the villains thing is going to turn into a double edged sword. Not able to make compelling OC villains and not knowledgeable enough to take pre-made ones. >.<

Villains, you say? Not only do I know quite a few pre-made magical girl villains, I think I have some OCs stashed away that would work pretty well as villains too. >.> <.<
...Wonder if I can find the notes I made for the OG villains for MBC... Hmmm.

So, how do the characters get their powers? Mysterious voice? Cute animal mascot thing? The power of the macguffins?
Also, we did have the macguffins worked out, right? I just want to make sure I'm not remembering wrong...

I think I'd wound up obsessed with making this some random high-school comedy anime for filler. but that's probably a bad idea too.
But yeah. I'd thought of age-down happening but it's probably going to be optional if it even happens at all.

I'm fine either way about the deaging thingy, although Moerin's first reaction to being turned into a teenager will be something along the lines of "great, now I can try and not screw it up this time!". >.>
I'm also all for getting our powers from muffins... I mean, um... Hmmm, how to get our powers... Could always just say the MacGuffin did it somehow and leave it vague to begin with, although that might be leaving too many things vague... Um, hmmm.

Hm, looking at Safebooru, if the characters are teenagers that gives me...lots of options. Compared to just one if there's no de-aging. Also, that filler bit sounds like it could be fun.
And personally, I wouldn't mind leaving that as some vague MacGuffin related thing.

As for the deaging thing....
Sam/whatever I name this self insert: "Oh God, now I actually am a 15 year old instead of just getting mistaken for one. >_<;;"
Any other OC would probably be a teenager anyway, so that's not an issue.

But yeah, Sonic references aside...um, hmm...Moe mentioned some Sailor Moon villains in the chat earlier. But if that doesn't work, maybe go with OC villains? Or maybe some mishmash of assorted magical girl villains? Or assorted magical girl villains including some OCs? Just throwing random ideas out there at this point.
