So, as far as MOTW stuff goes, I was thinking maybe you could just borrow some from assorted series. Even if you haven't seen the series in question, wikis tend to have decent explanations of their abilities and if you wanted to, I don't think anyone would complain if you chose to change them. Um, just a suggestion though.
And on the mentor front, I thought Moe had a couple of good ideas. Kero from CCS or an older magical girl either transformed into or disguised as a mascot-style character.

Were it not for the fact that Madoka stuff's not acceptable, I would approve of that idea.
But, um...yeah, isn't half the cast and presumably a decent number of the antagonists/monsters since I think Deady said it's pretty much the only non-Madoka MG series he's seen enough? I'd rather not have the RP oversaturated by one series if we've got other options. Um, but that might just be me being stupid.

Except with more randomly dragging the Ranmaverse into things. And if the two animal curses from that series I've seen are anything to go by, completely removing the mentor character's ability to talk.

I repeat my previous idea. Sailor Pluto as a cat, because a millennia old magical girl that can look at alternate timelines is probably the most useful thing for a crossover. ._.
