... also, part of me is tempted to swap 'Fate' for 'Destiny', since we're messing with the fundamentals of the system.
Anyway, here's how it goes:
The 7 Servant Classes are replaced with an extensible number of 'Archetype' classes. Instead of completely dictating skills and abilities, they give bonuses to your attributes and restrict Noble Phantasm use. Some more points on these:
Additionally, the ranking system is modified to remove the problem of 'A+ is twice A'. The new ranks are: E, D, C, B, A, S, X, +, ∞. No Servant should start with an attribute above A, before class bonuses, and under no circumstances should an ability exceed +. ∞ is functionally equivalent to an EX-ranked ability, and therefore off limits (though modifications, such as nerfing Avalon for the Protector class, are acceptable).
So, classes so far:
Avenger
Ruler
Slayer
Protector
Conqueror
Plotter
Seeker
Monster
Hero
Command Seal Changes
Probably need to be worked on and some more classes, need a way to get Medusa into things, and maybe making command seals less precious and more attainable.
Anyway, here's how it goes:
The 7 Servant Classes are replaced with an extensible number of 'Archetype' classes. Instead of completely dictating skills and abilities, they give bonuses to your attributes and restrict Noble Phantasm use. Some more points on these:
- Class isn't fixed. Spend a command seal and set up a ritual, you get to change classes.
- Not all classes must be filled to start.
- All but one end in an 'er' sound. This is the same as normal.
- As there are no class skills, they are instead handed out on ability.
- A class change results in a minor change of appearance, generally one of armour or clothing, to more suit the feel of the new class. In extreme cases, this could result in a change of physical features, such as ageing.
Avenger
- This class is exemplified by, at some point, being driven entirely by a motivation to take another person down entirely for the sake of revenge. An example of someone fitting this class would be Mordred.
- Bonuses: +2 to Strength, +1 to Agility.
- Noble Phantasms tend towards offensive anti-unit.
Ruler
- This class is exemplified by ruling over others being a major portion of your legend. A minor noble would not qualify (sorry, Gilles) but any kings or emperors would. Examples of someone fitting this class: Arturia, Iskander, Gilgamesh.
- Bonuses: +2 to Luck, +1 to Noble Phantasm Rank.
- Noble Phantasms tend towards shows of wealth or station.
Slayer
- This class is exemplified by, well, slaying dangerous wild beasts. It is naturally packed with heroes from the Age of Gods, when such things were common. An example of someone fitting this class would be Heracles.
- Bonuses: +1 to Strength, Agility, and Endurance.
- Noble Phantasms are either geared at killing something abnormal, or rely on large-scale attacks.
Protector
- This class is exemplified by putting others before yourself, or giving your life to save another person. A very chivalrous class indeed. Examples of someone fitting this class: Arturia, St. George, EMIYA.
- Bonuses: +1 to Magic, +2 to Endurance.
- Noble Phantasms are generally defensive in nature.
Conqueror
- This class is exemplified by expanding your personal holdings through some sort of conquest. It has a natural synergy with the Ruler class, due to one normally needing the other. Examples of someone fitting this class: Iskander, Nero.
- Bonuses: +1 to Luck, +2 to Strength.
- Noble Phantasms are generally anti-army in nature.
Plotter
- This class is exemplified by trying to achieve your own goals, or another's, through trickery and backstabbing rather than direct conflict. An example of someone fitting this class would be Medea.
- Bonuses: +2 to Magic, +1 to Luck.
- Noble Phantasms are generally poor in direct combat.
Seeker
- This class is exemplified by going on a quest for some relic or item, for noble reasons or simply for the prestige of it, success not required. Examples of someone fitting this class: absolutely anyone who went on the quest for the Holy Grail, the Argonauts.
- Bonuses: +1 to Endurance, Agility, and Noble Phantasm.
- Noble Phantasms are often the results of quests, but are otherwise comparatively unrestricted.
Monster
- This class is exemplified by something about the hero just not being quite right. Maybe they're a literal monster. Maybe their acts are so horrific they've gone down in history as one. Either way, there's something off. Examples of someone fitting this class: Medusa, Vlad the Impaler.
- bonuses: +2 to Strength, +1 to Endurance.
- Noble Phantasms are often absolutely horrific things or directly drawing upon monstrous abilities.
- A class that may only be temporarily accessed by spending three command seals. Most properly summoned Servants is eligible.
- Bonuses: +1 to all attributes, except for +2 to Luck.
- Noble Phantasms are two or three that most exemplify the Servant in question.
Devil
- A class that may only be temporarily accessed by spending three command seals. Any Servant capable of accessing the Monster or Plotter classes would be moved into this instead.
- Bonuses: +1 to all attributes, except for +2 to Luck.
- Noble Phantasms are two or three that most exemplify the Servant in question.
Command Seal Changes
- You start with three command seals as normal, granted by the Grail.
- Unlike normal, once spent, you start to replenish them. This regeneration drains from the same sustenance as goes to a Servant, so if you have a more powerful Servant (with a higher minimum upkeep), they replenish slower.
- The Church stockpiles extras as normal. These also replenish, so aiding them in some manner is highly beneficial. Also, should an overseer somehow end up in the war, they can quite easily break things.
Probably need to be worked on and some more classes, need a way to get Medusa into things, and maybe making command seals less precious and more attainable.
