"Hey, save it for later you two." Suddenly going into serious mode (or as serious as she ever was), Meowrin finally produced her real present. "Otherwise how am I supposed to give you these?"
Held in each of the overlord's hands was a handmade plushie (it was obvious by how lumpy they looked that they weren't a professionally produced product), one a grumpy looking girl with silver hair, and the over a blushing brunette with glasses.
"I... Hope you like them, eheh~"

"It's not my birthday," Rain replied automatically, releasing Anno and blinking. Why was she being given a present when there was absolutely no occasion for it? That was somewhat worrying... even if the lumpy Anno plushie did look kind of fun to hug. Then again, so did Anno, and she was warm, too.

Anno panted, and sat up in time to see Moerin produce the plushies. That... the Rain one... was adorable. They were a bit lumpy which made them look kind of odd, but they were still adorable. And far, far less embarrassing than those magazines. Weakly, she reached up for the Rain plushy, to take it.

Once more, the catgirl giggled as she gave both Anno and Rain a plushy of each other. "Of course it isn't, Rain. But if you're happy then Anno is happy, and a happy Anno is the best Anno. Wouldn't you agree?"
She smiled her catsmile at Anno once more. "Glad you like it. Um... Also got some stuff from Jolokia and Anise, so, um..." Just like she said, she was holding yet another two gifts (where had she been keeping them all?), one which was a totally-not-sword wrapped in lurid green paper with a Chocobo print, and the other was... Simply an envelope, with "To the only one I actually respect" written on the front in the neatest handwriting any of the girls had ever seen.

"Oh... well, yes, but I suppose the best Anno is happy for a different reason than my being pleased at a present..." Rain said, rambling a little as she accepted the present, "Moe, when did you start employing a living printer? That handwriting is kind of scary..."

"... Well, I can't say I'm surprised about Jolokia's present, eh-heh," replied Anno, taking the giftwrapped sword. That demon girl, she was obsessed with swords. Seeing her present from the girl was a sword was completely unsurprising. On the other hand, she was absolutely sure it would be a very nice sword. As for Anise's gift... well, it was just an envelope. Anno was very curious about this one...
"Well, I like it when you're happy, Rain," commented Anno, smiling at her girlfriend as she unwrapped the sword.

Jolokia's present wasn't wrapped particularly well, and so the paper came off pretty easily, revealing it to be a perfect replica of Caliburn. A note was attached to the scabbard, reading thusly:
"Deer Anny Anno, wishing yu a hiappy birfday. Luv, Joluh Jola Joloky Jojo."
"You think that's freaky?" Meowrin laughed at Rain's comment. "You should see her writing eldritch languages man was not meant to know. I never knew insanity could look so neat."
Upon opening the envelope, Anno would find herself showered in glittering light for a moment. Inside, a short note explained that this was a powerful charm that would increase her luck stat to EX rank for the next week, and that she should enjoy herself despite the idiotic company she kept.
Neither Jolokia nor Anise had really changed much over the years, really.

"Isn't Anno's luck stat tied to how much someone wants to sleep with her, though?" Rain wondered, seeing Anise's gift and then looking at Anno. Hmm... who would she get her luck stat from in this case, anyway? It wasn't as if she had a Master to have perv on her for luck boosts, so that meant she had to be having it determined through some other measure...

Meowrin shrugged at Rain's question. "Um... Maybe? Um..." She stroked her chin in contemplation for a moment. Well, if that was how she saw it...
"...So does that mean you want to sleep with her even more now~?" The catsmile spread into a grin that even the Cheshire Cat would be envious of. "Eheheh, I bet you've got something really kinky in mind right now, haven't you~? Then again, if you're anything like your sister... Eheheh~"

"I... umm... I don't have anything kinky in mind!" Rain shouted, panicking and running back inside the door before she said anything more stupid. Sleeping with Anno... well, it was her birthday, so that wasn't that unlikely but she didn't have anything perverse in mind and it wasn't fair to compare her to April like that!

Caliburn. The sword, even this perfect copy, was so very close to the original source of her powers... and it was incredibly finely-crafted. Weighting it in her hands, Anno looked the blade over. It was, like Excalibur, a very... pretty sword. The decoration on the hilt, the pristine silver blade, it was comparable to Excalibur in appearance, but with a more narrow blade different design on the hilt. She would have to thank Jolokia, next time she saw her.
The envelope with the luck-increasing charm was, well, incredibly useful. An EX luck stat? EX was immeasurable, she was basically ridiculously lucky by this point. Anno would have to thank Anise, as well... Maybe this would make less embarrassing things happ-
It was right about then that Rain brought up the 'Saber's luck stat increases with how much her Master wants to sleep with her' thing. And then Moerin went on to imply that... that...
"Wh-wh-wh-wh-whaaaaat?!" Anno cried, her face once again becoming bright red. She buried her face in her hands, now almost completely unmoving.

The catgirl doubled over in laughter at her friends' reactions. Oh, they were so much fun to tease! She hadn't had much chance to do so lately due to her new duties as an Overlord, and it felt so good to do it again.
"Ahahah, you two are just so cute~! See, see this is why I always thought you'd go so well together, eheh~" And with that, she pulled them both into a hug. "Heheh, I love you guys~"

"I-I love you too..." Rain mumbled, looking down and doing her best to appear smaller than Anno. This didn't go entirely well, given that she was a foot too tall to be doing anything along those sorts of lines.

"Eheh, I really don't know what Anise was thinking with that present," Meowrin said as she loosened the group hug. "The way things have been going, I'd say we all have EX rank luck~"
She just couldn't stop smiling. Here were her two best friends (well, April was counted amongst them too, but her relationship with Rain's sister was... Rather unorthodox, to say the least), both living out a happy life together. This was one of the things she'd always wanted to see, and it just made her feel even happier for it.
"So... What've you two got planned for today?"

"Well... we're going for a walk now and I have a cake to finish but I don't think that I had much else planned..." Rain said, thinking. She didn't want to plan too far ahead and try and force something that Anno didn't want. That would just be wrong, especially because it was her birthday today.

"Eheh, well, whatever you two get up to I hope you enjoy yourselves~" The way Meowrin said that, it was clear that she was intending it to imply... Something, at the very least. "Well, I'll leave you to it for now. Just wanted to hand over the presents and say hey, really. See you guys later~"
Before she left, however, she leaned over towards Rain and, with a conspiratorial wink, whispered to her, "Remember, the party starts at 15:00. Just try and get Anno to the castle by then, okay?"

Rain nodded before dragging Anno off on a walk, hoping that she could actually find her way to the castle when the time came. She... wasn't that good when it came to finding places, to be honest, so there was a high chance that she'd get completely lost, "Umm, hey, want to go back so that I can finish the cake before coming out again? I've got too much energy to burn, today..."

"Bye, Moe," Anno said, before getting dragged off by Rain. She blinked, and walked along with her for a little while until Rain posed her question. "Oh, sure, the cake looked good, anyway. So I'd like to see it finished."

Rain quickly, though she took a wrong turning at one point, lead the way back to the house. Once there, she cleaned her hands and set to work: first, whip some double cream she'd acquired until it could actually be called whipped cream. That was the time consuming bit and, after she'd covered one half of the sponge in it, she ate some of the mass that was left. It tasted so nice. The other thing to do? Heat some jam so that it was easier to spread evenly and liberally coat the other half of the cake in it. After that, it was a case of putting the jam-side on top of the cream-side and putting the assembled cake in a refrigerator until it was time to eat.
"Need to do anything before we go out again?"

Anno, who had grabbed a glass of lemonade and downed it while she was waiting, shook her head in response.
"No, I'm all ready to go, eh-heh," she said, with a smile. The cake had looked good, what glimpses she had of it...

"Right, off we go, then!" Rain exclaimed, putting her trainers back on and then dragging Anno out of the door once more, briefly pausing to shut it before looking around. Right, it was a left turning, then a long walk, and then it ought to be in sight...
For once, she got the directions right and they ended up headed in the same general direction as the castle.

Anno headed along after Rain, mostly silent for the walk. Soon enough, she could see the castle ahead. The castle was always a nice sight because... well, it was a castle. Castles were generally fairly cool.
