DiscussionSign Up----------------------------- It's astonishing how unaware humans could be sometimes. Creatures thought to exist only in fiction were very real and living within society. Relatively few knew of the existence of vampires, as well as their true capabilities. The Church permitted them to exist because vampires were not inherently evil, but they were well aware of the power vampires held, and that there did exist monsters within the race. On a fine, almost cloudless afternoon, the sun shining down, people went around their daily lives. Adults worked, children made the most of their school break, typical vampires kept themselves indoors, and things looked set to be another typical day for everyone. --------------- Though not so much for Lucy White. Panting with exertion, Lucy slumped on the park bench, mercifully located under the shade of a large, nearby tree. This... really sucked. Ever since that weird guy had attacked her a few nights ago, it had gotten so much harder to walk around outside. Her energy simply disappeared the second she exposed herself to the sun. The young teenager refused to think of the implications of such a thing, it was mere coincidence anyway. And besides, she was kind of concerned of this thirst she'd been having ever since. A feeling that strengthened at night, and no amount of water seemed to quench. I'm just a little sick... nothing to worry about... Lucy told herself firmly, draping a hand over her eyes. Nothing weird about that..--------------- Meanwhile, at the Kreuz Manor, it's two inhabitants were ready to leave. The silver-haired maid dutifully returned to her master's side, parasol in hand. Maylene Fairweather had retrieved the item for her vampire mistress, who wished to take a walk outside. Hardly an unusual activity for Maylene's mistress. Already holding it poised, ready to open, Maylene spoke, "Are you ready to depart, mistress? Where shall we go today?" You wouldn't tell from Maylene's tone, but she really enjoyed these walks with Rosalie. Mostly because she was her mistress.

"Hmm... well, that's a good question, Maylene," replied Rosalie, adjusting the large red bow tied around her neck. The dress she wore today was her standard fare, black and red and extraordinarily frilly. After making sure that her bow was on properly, she turned and looked up at Maylene with a smile. Where to go today... well, there were plenty of places to take a drop by. The park, the shopping district... oh, where to go?
After a few moments, Rosalie had come to her decision.
"The shopping district, then the park, Maylene," she said, taking several steps towards her mansion's exit. "It would be nice to see if there were any new books at the local book shop, and the park is always a good place for a relaxing walk. Don't you agree, Maylene? Especially on a lovely day such as this."
Rosemary Wilson, Rosemary the Bloodstained Nun, Rosemary the Ripper, Rosemary the High Executor of the Holy Church, Rosemary the teenaged girl shopping for dinner-wait.
Rosemary had never been in Japan for very long before, not even long enough to try the food. Her intent was to try out some traditional recipes... as such, she was searching for the ideal ingredients for a traditional Japanese dinner. Her latest mission boiled down to an extended stay in Japan to investigate rumors of a possible aggressive vampire who had gathered followers. It was serious enough to send both a High Executor and an Exorcist to assist her.
Speaking of which...
"Lucille, what kind of fish should I get?"

The green-haired female, resplendent in her extremely form-fitting clothing of ribbons and getting a few odd looks by the people close enough to realise just how bizarre her clothing style was (she often wondered how they'd react if they knew it WAS just ribbons, really), was staring intently at the confectionery section and almost didn't notice that her superior was asking her a question. Dragging herself away from the delicious foods, she thought about the question before replying, "I don't really mind but... get a big one? I'm hungry... also, haven't prepared fish for ages..."

"Well, I'd be preparing the fish, Lucille," Rosemary replied with a smile, picking out what was probably far too large a fish and turning completely to face her odd subordinate. For a moment, looking at Lucille, Rosemary had to wonder why a person with such bizarre clothing had elected to become a part of the Holy Church... but she seemed effective, at least. So there was that. Also, it wasn't nice to have doubts in other's ideals and motivations, so Rosemary quickly shoved that line of thought away.
"Ummm... do you still have the grocery list? What else do we need?"
Miyuki was taking a fairly placid walk, today. At the moment, the Chikamatsu shrine was nice and clean and she had already handled her onmyoji practice for the day, so she had the rest of the day free. So... a peaceful walk seemed like a good idea for the day. She walked along... then... there was a younger girl up ahead. She looked... ill.
Frowning, Miyuki walked towards the girl. Was the heat taking its toll on her? She did look rather hot... "Are you okay?"

"Huh...?" Lucy stared at the girl who had approached her. A shrine maiden? What was she doing way out here? "Oh, um... y-yeah, perfectly fine!"
Clearly a lie, given how much like crap she felt, but no need to worry the shrine maiden with her problems! Hopping to her feet, Lucy tried not to make it too obvious just how woozy and off-balance this sudden movement made her feel. With a wide, shaky smile, Lucy continued, "Really, nothing wrong with me at all..."
-------------------------------
"Yes, I do agree, mistress." Maylene nodded. She had needed to visit the book shop, herself. There had been certain pieces of literary work she'd been meaning to buy for awhile... and would hopefully be less conspicuous than her manga stash... and walking with her mistress always made her happy, so no complaints there.
Following after her mistress, , Maylene held the parasol ready to open and shield Rosalie from the sun's rays. No doubt the pair would look odd outside, but they had been doing this nearly every day, everyone would be used to the sight of a maid and a gothic-lolita girl by now.

Miyuki raised an eyebrow. People who insisted that they were okay when the clearly, clearly weren't got on her nerves. Unlike most people who got on her nerves, however, she wasn't going to berate this girl and whack her on the head. Yet. Instead, she approached the younger girl with a frown, coming to a halt in front of her and bending slightly to look her in the eye. She wasn't that much taller than the younger girl, so she didn't have to bend far.
"That's a lie. You look sick," Miyuki began, "How do you feel? Do you need help?"
Rosalie cheerfully headed out the door, sure not to walk far enough that she strayed out of the shade of the parasol that Maylene held over her head. She cheerfully continued onward for a while, making a beeline right for the shopping district. In her mind, she went over what books she wanted to purchase... and as it stood, most of them weren't so much books as magical girl manga and other things of that nature. In as much as she projected a mature image... magical girl stuff was fun! And nice to read. And sometimes it had cool things in it... Though that wasn't all. She intended to purchase a new cookbook for Maylene, as well.
"So, Maylene, do you intend to purchase anything from the book shop?" she asked, glancing up at her maid. They were nearly there, the book shop was just a few blocks over.

There was a sudden burst of showering leaves from the tree above Lucy and Miyuki, shortly followed by a heavy THUMP!
The source of the disturbance was soon apparent, as a boy of around seventeen was now sprawled out on the ground in a pile of fresh leaves. twigs were sticking out of his dark brown hair and though it was summer break he was wearing a familiar school uniform, rumpled and slightly torn where pieces of it had caught on tree branches during his rapid descent.
The apparent schoolboy seemed to be sleeping, undisturbed by his fall, though he could easily have just been knocked unconscious. Either way, he muttered through his daze.
"No...grandpa...that's my donut..."

"...Um..." Feeling rather awkward, Lucy found it difficult to maintain eye contact with the shrine maiden. She didn't want to trouble her, but... "W-well... I'm a tiny bit woozy, that's all... ahaha... I-I'll just...."
And then something fell. Directly behind her. With a small shriek of surprise, Lucy immediately whirled round, backing into the shrine maiden in the process. With a hurried apology, the vampire stared at the source of the disturbance. A boy? Where did he even...?
glancing upwards, Lucy quickly lowered her gaze. There might have been a tree up there, but the sun was still breaking through small gaps in the leaves, and she wasn't too fond of how much that hurt her eyes. Stupid sickness...
"...Is he dead...?" Lucy asked the shrine maiden, slightly worried. She didn't look at the young male, because... for some strange reason, it only made her hungry.
-----------------------------------
Keeping Rosalie protected from the shade was a simple enough matter. Even if her master were the type to rush onward recklessly, Maylene would have made sure she were untouched by the sun's rays. Soon enough, they reached the shopping district, and Maylene nodded at her master's question. "There are a few things I'm interested in purchasing. Though I'm not sure if they would be here."
Maylene would also have to look out for anything her mistress would be interested in. She seemed to prefer magical girl manga, but maybe there were other things that could pique her interest...

"You look a lot more then a tiny bit woozy. Do you need me to call your pare-"
And then a boy fell out of the tree above them. Well, if there was one thing that Miyuki absolutely was not expecting, it was a rain of humans. Even just one human. In the swiftest of moments, her calm disposition was shattered.
"What the hell?!" she cried, taking a step back, before looking down at the boy. He had fallen. From the tree. Why? Miyuki had no idea. He hardly seemed to be someone who would be experimenting with teleportation, so... this was truly confusing.
"... He's... still breathing... it seems like he's just asleep," Miyuki said after a few moments of staring, in response to the younger girl's question. On one hand, he was alive, so the didn't just have a corpse fall out of the tree in front of them. On the other hand, he just fell out of the tree in front of them.
"Ah, that's lovely, Maylene," replied Rosalie with a smile. Hmm... it would be best to ensure that she didn't purchase a cookbook that Maylene already intended on buying, so... perhaps she should ask what Maylene intended to buy? A second copy of the same cookbook would hardly be of any use to the maid. "May I ask what you intend to buy?"
She smiled up at Maylene.

The boy's eyes drifted open. His right eye was dark brown, but his left was a faintly glimmering green. His eyes darted back and forth between Lucy and the shrine maiden.
"...Did I fall...?"
For a moment or two they paused intently on Lucy, staring almost past her as if he could see someone or something just over her shoulder.
Then he suddenly clapped his hand to his shoulder and winced. When he drew it away blood covered his palm and began spreading over the arm of his uniform.
"Oh great! This is my only uniform and now it's wrecked! stupid branches! how'll I get another one!."
Despite being in pain a moment earlier, he seemed unconcerned by the rather bloody wound on his shoulder other than the blood ruining his clothes.

Hearing the boy speak, Lucy glanced at him, wondering if he was looking at her. It made her a little uneasy and just slightly paranoid. Although that feeling quickly disappeared when it became clear he was in pain. And just as quickly as that feeling had left, a pang of hunger left Lucy staring blankly at the blood, her lips quivering slightly.
With slightly widened eyes, Lucy tried to regain her senses, feeling like she were slowly losing her mind. That was... just a normal feeling of hunger. It just coincidentally happened when she looked at the boy's blood... well, she could stuff herself later...
"Um... Are you okay?" Lucy asked, taking a step closer. She tried not to look at his wounded shoulder... or think about it.
----------------------------------
"...Nothing of much interest to your tastes, mistress." Maylene replied evasively. "You wouldn't really like these stories."
Well, Maylene's manga and books probably wouldn't appeal to her master, but maybe there was something she could buy for Rosalie... and wasn't something she would have read before. The maid ran through her mental category of Rosalie's owned manga and books, making sure not to buy something she would already own. And make sure it wasn't something her mistress wouldn't enjoy...

"... That's what you get for sleeping in a tree, idiot," replied Miyuki with a sigh, "I have medical supplies back home, you-both of you-come on. I can bandage that wound-"
Miyuki gestured to the bleeding wound on the boy's upper arm, having now dropped most of her politeness in the face of the apparent stupidity she was now facing, "-And some medicine for you for whatever it is that you've got."
She gestured to the younger girl.
"Now, come on."
Well... that was kind of unhelpful and made Rosalie a bit more curious about what it was that Maylene intended to buy. At least it made it clear that it most likely wasn't a new cookbook... so that was good, at least. "That only made me more curious... but I suppose you don't really have to tell me, ah-hah. Now, we shouldn't be much further from the bookstore..."

"That's kind of you."
The boy sprung to his feet with surprising ease and agility for someone who'd just fallen out of a tree, then stumbled, grabbed his shoulder and grimaced, though he forced it into a smile.
"Hn. I guess it's actually a little worse than I thought."
He did his best to disguise the occasional glimpses he took back at the obviously distressed girl, wondering at the intense, blanked out stare she'd given his wound.
There was no need to jump to unecessary conclusions he knew, but he couldn't help the connections beginning to form in the back of his mind.
"Oh, just one more thing!"
With his uninjured arm, he thumped the trunk of the tree, causing a suit-case to fall, only to catch it before it hit the ground.
"There."

"...Medicine?" Lucy repeated in wonder, sounding like she had no idea what the shrine maiden was talking about for a moment. "Um... oh, uh... w-well, I could just go home and rest... t-there's no need to..."
Another glance at the boy's shoulder, and Lucy imagined, quite vividly, jumping towards that boy and biting into that shoulder. Startled at ehr own imagination, Lucy stumbled away, falling onto the bench.
"...O-on second thought, sleeping here's good..." Lucy chuckled weakly, trying to pass off her movements as deliberate. With a small wave of her hand, she continued, "Thanks, though!"
---------------------------------------
"I apologise, mistress," Maylene bowed her head slightly, keeping the parasol steady. "If I do find something interesting, I'll be sure to notify you immediately."
Not too long after that, Maylene could see the book store come into view. "We have arrived, mistress."

"... Sleeping there. On the bench," Miyuki said flatly, with a stare. First she had scene the idiot guy knock his suitcase out of the tree, because that was a completely logical place to have it. And now this. It looked like it was time to throw whatever remained of politeness completely out the window.
Miyuki reached out to grab the girls hand and pull her up. "you can't sleep on some random bench, idiot. Come on."
"Thank you, Maylene," Rosalie replied with a cheerful smile. Oh, her maid really was wonderful. Both in her service and her companionship. Which was, really, why Rosalie desired to find this cookbook. As a present for her dedicated maid and bodyguard. And then there was the bookstore.
"Ah, wonderful! Come on, Maylene," Rosalie said, quickening her pace.

"Eh?" Pulled to her feet, Lucy stumbled a little, almost falling onto Miyuki. She managed to steady herself in time and give her a look of confusion, however. "What? It's not like it'll randomly start raining!"
Don't vampires hate rain? Wait, why the hell do I care about what a vampire hates?
Shaking her head clear of those thoughts, Lucy mumbled, "And I'm not an idiot... I'm just not that good with hard problems..." Swaying slightly under the sun, Lucy sighed and continued, "Well... okay, I'll sleep at your shrine, then! Can I borrow your bed, too?"
------------------------------
"Yes." Matching Rosalie's speed effortlessly, Maylene kept her protected from the sun until they reached the book store, where she then pushed the door open and stepped aside, allowing Rosalie to enter first. The maid wondered what to buy first... There was a new volume of one of her favourite manga to get... two or three more series to check out... find something her mistress would enjoy... while making sure said mistress didn't enquire too much on her chosen purchases. Same as ever, really.

"... No, you can't have my bed. I sleep in my bed," replied Miyuki, sighing and turning away from the younger girl. "Why would you even be sleeping at my house? It's the middle of the day, I'm just taking you to my house to get you some medicine. You've got... something wrong with you can if I get you home I can figure it out more easily. You too, Bird-san."
Miyuki waved for the boy and the girl to follow her as she began to make her way back the way she had came.
"Well then, Maylene..." began Rosalie, turning to face her maid once they had entered the building, "I need to..."
Excuse, what excuse... she wanted to surprise Maylene with the cookbook. As such, she didn't want Maylene following her when she went to pick one out. "... go to the restroom, feel free to look at whatever you want while I'm away, please."
Rosalie quickly made a beeline for the section that would hold said cookbooks. Now all that was left was to pick out something that Maylene would like...

The boy was about to question exactly what kind of person sleeps in the middle of the day, but remembered the fact that he had just been doing so himself only a few moments ago.
He waited for the two girls to start moving before he would join them, keeping his distance slightly despite his wounded, freely bleeding shoulder and remembering to keep the briefcase between himself and the both of them out of habit.
He looked back at the younger girl, and though his green eye winked in a jewel-like manner and his expression flickered to one of suspicion for a moment, once it cleared he seemed not to know anything more than he had before.
