And now for the sake of posterity and to make sure it actually gets seen rather than buried in the chatlog I'm going to post up my justification for LEM here too, and expand it a bit.
Basically my idea was that it's Deus manipulating one of the villains into breaking her subtly to make it easier to Witch her, but when it fails he's forced to do it directly.
Bad idea?

Hm... Probably. I have an idea for what Deus is planning once the endgame comes, and I don't think "Make someone suffer deeply so they turn into a witch" would factor into his plan unless he plans on getting more help in executing his plan... {Idea!}
