No clue if I'll actually use this, but I wrote an evil, small child version of Falkon! - Name: Demise, Dreadlord of Oblivion(Real name is Falkonerie Svenland)
- Age: 10
- Sex: Male
- Appearance: Tremble, mortal, treeeemble!
- Chosen Power/Tech: Demise's Shard and Sword. With Demise's shard, Falkon cannot actually do anything special, his size and lack of knowledge concerning Demise's powers effectively locking them away. Using the sword as a sword is equally impossible, as it is bigger and heavier than he is. Luckily, the sword can transform into Ghirahim, a demon lord that wields two sabers in battle, as well as diamond like objects he can use to block attacks or as weak ranged weapons.
- Faction: None at first.
- World of Origin: a split off version of Lilim created by time travel.
- Personality: Falkon is... Unpredictable. One moment he'll be frolicking through grassy fields, the next he'll be sicing Ghirahim on a village and laughing as it burns to the ground. He always hates it when people call him cute or confuse his gender, however. He is very intent on keeping his name a secret.
- Bio: Born on Lilim, Falkonerie was raised in LA, where he didn't do much of interest. On his 9th birthday, he accidentally impaled himself on a strange crystal, and a dark voice entered his mind. After several months of whispering, he took on the name "Demise", and ran away from home, intent upon finding his weapon, the Demon Lord Ghirahim. At the beginning of S2, Demise successfully obtains Ghirahim.

AltFalkons, altfalkons everywhere! Char sound good. >Falkon cannot actually do anything special, his size and lack of knowledge concerning Demise's powers effectively locking them away. He would unlock them, right?

Potentially. It would really depend on how it played out. If he did, it would likely just be turning him into a meatshield, allowing him to create monsters, and summoning storms. Actually using Ghirahim as a sword would be pretty troublesome unless his size changed.

@lethal force: only if there's no other options.
@wbx: You guys have to understand rhat WBX is big, and up until S2, all they were was an annoying group that kept trying to invade various worlds. Of course, they always failed and they were always sent back by the Brotherhood.
Once the WBX becomes a major threat, then the Brotherhood will get moving. You have to realize that not everyone in this faction are soldiers. Some are volunteers, some are office workers... but most of Brotherhood's troops will be sent to the Multiverse, so they can strenghten their protection on the worlds and so they can hunt and find WBX members. Why isn't the entire organisation going after WBX, you ask? Because WBX is not the only threat. There's SPOILERS, mad gods like Gig who want to screw around and the Scherezade Foundation.
So when WBX starts attacking, yes, the Brotherhood will go after them- but the two factions will have similar sizes, I believe.

Hrrrm.
After some consideration, I think I'll move Gig to a more neutral and chaotic position.
He's basically a free-form power origin. He finds people with special "spark" (being a player character), grants them power (brings them from the dead if necessary) and mostly sets them free. They just have that undead cold feeling (degree varies) inside them that can only filled by doing awe-inspiring things, be they for good or evil.
So they are free to get into any available faction afterwards, he won't care as long as his puppets do something awesome once in a while.

Does this mean that Gig's Party is kapoot? Damn. I wanted to have someone constantly interacting with Gig and all that.

Yay, giant factions that nevertheless achieve absolutely nothing unless a few specific people are taking action. So sensible. Doesn't do anything to solve the 'why are the player characters so utterly impotent if the Brotherhood has such vast resources' thing, either.
... and how the hell have they managed to get so huge? I can't believe there's that many universes with both multiversal involvement on anything above a personal scale (because dragging in the entire nasuverse based on Zelretch would be dickish) and the technology to take part. It seems to effectively be a giant, 'we-are-protecting-you-whether-you-like-it-or-not' entity for... maybe a handful of worlds. >_>

And why would you let your special ops team be poorly equipped and check a bunch of new recruits with minimal experience into it? None of this makes any sense. If you know this group is enough of a threat to warrant special involvement (not that I see why the brotherhood has any need or method to be such a vast impersonal blob) then why would you not outfit everyone in the best you can provide? Also, how do you get new characters into the brotherhood in that situation? They'd start off at the bottom and never get plot involvement.
Then there's the whole 'now a large organisation' thing that removes a lot of freedom of choice. >_>

"uverse based on Zelretch would be dickish) and the technology to take part. It seems to effectively be a giant, 'we-are-protecting-you-whether-you-like-it-or-not' entity for... maybe a handful of worlds. >_>"
Again? Didn't we already discuss this? They offer their help to Multiverse aware worlds, and non Multiverse worlds are only protected when there's a major threat around. Like WBX. The Brotherhood ships and soldiers disguise themselves so that non Multiverse aware worlds don't go "why are there soldiers and a big gian ship here." Also, when there's a battle going on, the first thing they do is move the battle to somewhere where there are no civillians.
Then again, I have told you this before.
"And why would you let your special ops team be poorly equipped and check a bunch of new recruits with minimal experience into it?"
What? Who said we were going to do that?

The fact that there are presumably Brotherhood characters that aren't wearing power armour and carrying the latest one shot kill/incapacitate weapon with a firing rate of a hundred rounds per second cobbled together by the combination of a genius that can design just about anything he wants, easy multiversal travel to access that technology (since I'm sure the parts exist, even if they aren't all in the one universe) and a machine that can seemingly replicate any non-living matter that runs on water suggests the Brotherhood isn't giving them their best equipment. And if you're not letting new recruits with minimal experience into the special forces bit then as Rain said "[new characters]'d start off at the bottom and never get plot involvement."

Also, if you really wanna know what the Brotherhood does with people that have shards, I suggest you look at Roy's previous job as a State Alchemist.
Basically, people with shards are treated ad State Alchemists in the Brotherhood. They get missions, special training and all that. Except for the "dog of the military" part

Oooooh. I know how to fix our problems
* clears throat *
Ciaran, please stop. Your character has his own faction and is an ally of the Brotherhood, not its Commander. Could you let the player behind the Commander and Co-GM answer, ok? Thanks.

It pretty much IS "dog of the military" otherwise they would just sit somewhere in peace and not do a thing.
Also that post sounded like you're only limiting the participation to people with shards. That's not cool and probably not what you intended to mean, but that's how it came off.

It's not possible to have a smaller organisation rather than implausibly vast interuniversal fleets of which we are only a tiny part? >_>
There aren't even that many worlds that would, or could, contribute. Eugh.

The Brotherhood has three main ships. All the other ships are personal ships. And like I said before, most members are volunteers.
@addy: No, that's not what I meant. Powerless people have a part in the Brotherhood, an important one, but shard holders (aka Player Characters) get an extra level of training, and do certain things powerless people can't do. They're also most of the generals, lieutenants and all that. And I said most, not all.

We're trying to reason for the existence of an organization with Anarchists. It just won't work. Shut. Up. Seriously. That's just an empty and insulting accusation. Making it a strict organisation severely limits the character possibilities. Can you come up with any at all reason for the "elite Spec Ops unit" to not be decked in, say, whatever is the best Iron Man suit you have at the moment, thus completely nullifying any powers that don't surpass it/can be combined with it?

If you're decking out your troops in the best gear available and you have 20 years to upgrade what you've already got available (for example, Ciaran's Iron Man suit)/acquire new tech, why wouldn't you equip everyone with super tough flying armour with force fields and/or perfect camo that has enough firepower to conquer the modern world?
Also, I'm hoping this is just poor wording on your part, but it really looks like you're saying "if you don't have a shard, you're dropped into grunt work and won't see any of the main group's action in the RP".

I don't know, Rain, why are you so pasive agressive towards anything I and various other people make? ^.^ Tachi: Because the Brotherhood is not an organisation that wants to conquer the modern world. All the soldiers have what they need for the mission or place they're currently on. We don't need it, we won't use it. We don't need 5000 supah awesome armors when most of our members are helping rebuild a certain town.

Tachi: And no. What I said is "if you have a shard, you get an extra level of training." Powerless people can become generals and all that, it's just that thanks to the shard thing, its easier for someone with a shard to fill said positions... because they have shards. And everyone gets to see action, so don't worry about it.

So, despite the situations in the first season where a character has suddenly become more powerful than expected or someone's shown up unexpectedly, they won't consider giving people who are going out for combat purposes their best equipment, just in case that thing that's happened before happens? Just what they think they'll need for what they assume the situation is in the target world? That seems kind of...not the best course of action on their part.
Also, what you said is "shard holders (aka Player Characters) get an extra level of training, and do certain things powerless people can't do".

Yeah, its easier for you to lift the Titanic if you can breath underwater and lift over 500 tons, isn't it?
Again, I apologise for my poor words. When I meant "they'll get what they need", I meant it when comparing someone going to combat and someone doing something else, like helping a group of people gettting resettled.

But we would HAVE armours. When we learn that the enemy is highly dangerous, why wouldn't we send them to deal with it?
No, having a shard should not mean anything to becoming a general. Powerful shard means powerful frontline fighter. Capability to lead is generally not included into them and we shouldn't run on Asskicking Equals Authority.
If you try to promote Oleg to actual leadership position, he'll call Roy an idiot and refuse :V Because he is a powerful fighter and manufacturer, but not a leader.

What Addy said. Anyway, this really won't matter in the RP. It's simply to set a backstory and an excuse for why Roy can get supplies and backup.

Strat, I kinda was pointing out how ridiculous that is.
If we have armour (which we would), then the moment we confirm that this shit is serious, we logically should be able to field all that armour. With trained soldiers, not the ragtag bunch of misfits.
However we are playing the ragtag bunch of misfits. Very existence of any trained soldiers invalidates good chunk of the party from doing anything. Hell, even not soldiers - robots ("Drone better." :V)
We will be just there to call air support and watch fireworks. Look at the Imperium/Brotherhood history. Look how many characters would never get to do anything because they would be easily replaceable with superior force if we would have it.

... Yeah, if this is how the Brotherhood is going to be, Kuroko's going to end up elsewhere if I use her next season. I mean, not only would a group as rigid as you're saying probably expect her to be a full-time member and not just temporary until the crisis is over, but there's no way she'd actually be allowed to do anything remotely important because at oldest she's 13.

Yeah. I'm not looking to make the Brotherhood an army. More like an open-ended Federation. That's what I want things to do, but I don't know how to word them. I'm also not a mater strategist, and most of these things really won't matter once the actual RP kicks off. That's the problem with me: I have the idea, but I often confuse myself on how to put it to paper. That's why this is a planning thread: we need to brainstorm and make constructive suggestions, not comments filled with hidden agression and sarcasm. Also, please, let's stop talking about armies. I just came out of Israel, and let's just say I'm not interested in guns and wars. Please.
